Pakistani fast bowler tries to incinerate himself after being fed up of rejection
They keep on ignoring me because I am from a poor background: Abbas
Due to constant rejection, a budding Pakistani cricketer barged into Lahore City Cricket Association (LCCA) ground during an ongoing match and threatened to incinerate himself, accusing selectors of demanding a bribe to offer him a break in domestic cricket.
Right arm fast bowler, Ghulam Haider Abbas, tried to immolate himself during the match by pouring petrol on himself. Some of the attentive onlookers who were watching the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy match rushed to the scene and stopped the cricketer, thereby, raising an alarm. The LCCA officials then calmed the cricketer down dodging a mishap.

Ghulam Haider Abbas belongs to the east zone in the Lahore association, claimed that he finally gave in to the hollow promises by the officials of getting a break into the First Class circuit for the Lahore team.
“I have been performing well at the club and zonal level but they keep on ignoring me because I am from a poor background. At the end, they finally told me that if I want to play for the Lahore team, I should pay them money. Today I came here totally fed up and wanted to end my life,” claimed Abbas according to News 18.
Abbas then warned the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that if his plea is not heard, he would set himself on fire at the entrance of the Gaddafi stadium. “If I die, the east zone officials and the LCCA head should be held responsible for it because they are not selecting players on merit,” concluded Abbas.
