‘Par na badla toh Shoaib Malik’ – Pakistan media pays hilarious tribute to veteran all-rounder
Shoaib Malik was recently named in Pakistan's T20 World Cup squad.
Pakistan added veteran all-rounder Shoiab Malik in their T20 World Cup squad days before the start of the gala tournament. The 39-year-old, who was left out from the initial 15-man squad, came in as a replacement for hard-hitting batter Sohaib Maqsood, who sustained an unfortunate injury. With Malik playing international cricket over the last two decades, he has a plethora of experience which would benefit the Men in Green.
Moreover, the all-rounder, who featured in all the six previous editions of the T20 World Cup, was in exceptional form in this year’s Pakistan Super League (PSL). Hence, many reckoned Malik’s inclusion is the right call. Although many fans and experts lauded PCB’s decision, a Pakistan-based media channel gave Malik a hilarious tribute, highlighting the longevity of his career.
For the unversed, Malik, who made his international debut in 1999, has seen four decades in his international career. In this duration, a lot in the world has changed the media house highlighted the same. In a special segment of news channel Samaa TV, a package was played with a hilarious monologue.

“Nawaz Sharif gaye, Musharraf aaye, Zardari gaye, fir Nawaz Sharif aaye, daur badla, Khan aa gaye par na badla toh Shoaib Malik… 1999 mein 15 ₨ milne vala petrol 130 par aa gaya, Antenna vale phone ki jagah Android aa gaya, iphone aa gaya, dish ka daur gaya, Internet ne sab badalkar duniya ko global village bana diya, par na badla toh Shoaib Malik,” the video stated.
The video even highlighted the fact that pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi was born after Malik had made his international debut. Now, the two players will join forces for the national team. The clip went viral in no time and fans lauded the creativity of the production team.
Meanwhile, PCB chief selector Muhammad Wasim said Malik’s experience help players in the showpiece event. “In his (Sohaib Maqsood) place and following discussions with the team management, we have decided to include Shoaib Malik in the side. I am sure Shoaib’s experience will be handy for the entire squad,” chief selector Muhammad Wasim said in the PCB release.
