As a parent, I am gutted for Steve Smith and his family: Kevin Pietersen
Various cricketing legends felt sad and gutted for the highly emotional Steve Smith after the press conference.
Cricket Australia’s verdict of the one-year ban on Steve Smith and David Warner is being criticized by many as they want the ban to be reduced. Australia has already lost $ 20 Million after they lost their prime sponsor Magellan. However, the duo has a chance to challenge the sanction.
As soon as the teary-eyed Steve Smith landed in Australia, he attended the press conference and termed the shameful ball-tampering act as ‘regretful moment of his life’ and took the whole responsibility on his shoulder.
Various cricketing legends felt sad and gutted for the highly emotional Steve Smith after the press conference. One of those is the recently retired Kevin Pietersen. As a parent, he’s gutted for Steve Smith and feels the better is yet to come for the banned Aussie skipper.
His tweet read, “Just seen @stevesmith49’s press conference. As a parent, I’m gutted for him & his family! Shout me down if you want, but I’m speaking as a parent! It will get better mate!”

KP reckons that the team’s head coach Darren Lehmann was also involved in the embarrassing ball-tampering act and he came up with an ‘emoji’ tweet. However, Lehmann has announced that he will step down as the team coach after the completion of the ongoing Test against South Africa.
Here’s what KP tweeted
Lehmann after announcing his resignation, he said, “I had no prior knowledge. But my family has copped a lot of criticism and the time is right to step down.”
The South African skipper Faf du Plessis was also highly disappointed with the verdict and he confirmed that he has sent a message to Steve Smith and the latter responded in a positive way. It is yet to be known if the duo challenges the Cricket Australia’s verdict or not.
