Pat Cummins' tweet about his donation towards COVID-19 relief work in India becomes 'most retweeted and quoted tweet of the year' in India

The second wave of COVID-19 shook India and other parts of the world in unimaginable ways and different people stepped up to donate for the noble cause. When the medical infrastructure and kits needed the utmost help, Australia’s ace bowler Pat Cummins stepped up to add to the cause and tweeted about his donation to India.
In the same light of events, his tweet has become the most retweeted tweet in India for the year 2021. It was during the same events when COVID-19 halted the 1st phase of IPL 2021 and various cricketers marked their contribution but Cummins’ initiatives were the first one from the cricketing world.
The report which marked his tweet as the most retweeted one also studied the most used hashtags for one year period in India and it was a no-brainer that COVID-19 topped the chart.

“As the second COVID-19 wave hit India, people from across the world came forward to support the country. Among them was Australian cricketer Pat Cummins, who made a donation towards COVID relief in India, and took to Twitter to encourage others to do the same. The generosity of the Tweet received gratitude from people all over the country, making this the most Retweeted Tweet in India in 2021,” Twitter said.

In the same line of events, Virat Kohli announcing the birth of his daughter in January 2021 became the most liked tweet of the year 2021. It also has to be noted that when Kohli announced the pregnancy of Anushka Sharma back in 2020, it became the most-liked tweet of 2020.
Talking of Cummins, he is currently up against England while leading his side in the all-important Ashes. He has already marked his journey as a Test skipper in style with a five-for on day one.
