Pat Howard signs a two year extension contract with Cricket Australia

The performance coach has been a part of the Australian squad since 2011.

Cricket Australia high-performance manager Pat Howard extended his contract with the board for a couple years keeping an eye on the ICC World Cup 2019 in England. Pat Howard has been a key member of the team since 2011 and has been a part of all highs and lows of the Australian Cricket team. From the World Cup win 2015 to the loss at in the subsequent Ashes series, Pat Howard has seen it all.

He has also witnessed whitewashes in Test series against Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka in Asia and top of the Test and one-day international rankings. Pat Howard is specifically impressed with talent identification system in the past few years in the country.

“In sport there is always highs and lows but if I was to reflect, I am particularly pleased with how much our pathways and talent identification systems have grown, with more than 300 contracted male and female players, as well as the coaching pathway for coaches in Australian cricket,” said the former rugby player according to Fox sports.

The 43-year old further mentioned that the system will continue to grow in the coming years and the world will witness a lot of upcoming player in the future.

“The Cricket landscape is changing rapidly and the need to continue to adapt will be important, this means there is still a lot to achieve. What the previous 12 months has shown is that we have a lot of talent and depth in the system to be ready for these changes.” added the performance coach of the Australian team.

He concluded by affirming that the goal of the team still remains to be on top of the table across all formats and genders in World Cricket and bring back the era of dominance. “The goal hasn’t changed, we want to be number one in all three formats across Men’s and Women’s cricket” concluded Howard.
