PCB bans Nasir Jamshed from all forms of the game

Pakistan Cricket has been jolted for yet another time with a handful of players involved or questioned for corrupt activities in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) played in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). In a recent turn of events, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has suspended batsman Nasir Jamshed from all forms of the game.

The move has been called for since Jamshed was apparently found guilty of breaching the anti-corruption code. The PSL Chief Najam Sethi has officially announced the suspension of Nasir Jamshed on social media. Sethi wrote on Twitter, “PCB has provisionally suspended Nasir Jamshed from all forms of cricket for violating its anti-corruption code @TheRealPCB.”

While the details about the same have not been detailed yet, it is speculated that the suspension comes in relation with the recent spot fixing fiasco in the PSL. Pakistan internationals Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif were sent back home for their alleged involvement in spot-fixing and according to reports, PCB Chairman Shaharyar Khan had stated that they have strong evidence against the southpaw.

Just after a day, Mohammad Irfan, Zulfiqar Babar and Shahzaib Hasan were also interrogated due to fixing related issues and despite PCB clearing them to play the tournament, they will continue to be investigated. The initial reports suggested that the players were caught in a raid and international syndicates are behind influencing the game. Now, the name of a veteran player like Nasir Jamshed has surfaced.

Jamshed, who has played 2 Tests, 48 ODIs, and 18 T20Is, is most likely to be involved with the same international syndicates who were earlier linked with Sharjeel Khan. Several senior players and former cricketers have condemned the spot-fixing in PSL. Former Pakistan Test skipper Ramiz Raja showed his frustration about the same in an interview recently. Kumar Sangakkara, who is a part of the tournament this year, also spoke about it and believes that the game must be kept clean.
