PCB chairman Najam Sethi says it is Sri Lanka's turn to help Pakistan

The memory of March 2009 is still very much fresh in the minds of Pakistani cricket lovers. One unfortunate incident made International cricket to stop entering their nation. While the Sri Lankan players were heading towards the Gaddafi Stadium eight years ago, they were attacked by terrorists. What followed was a complete shocker for Pakistani cricketing fraternity, as all the other teams declined the offer to tour the country.

Only Zimbabwe toured interim in 2015, but no other Test playing nation was interested in following Zimbabwe’s footsteps. But international cricket is finally on its way back to the cricket crazy nation, owing to the hand of help stretched out by the same men who were attacked eight years ago. The Lankans will be visiting their Asian counterparts once again, to play three T20Is.

The newly appointed chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Najam Sethi said that his nation has supported the Lions for a long time, as the island country was under the grasp of terrorism and violence for 27 years. Hence, he feels that it is Sri Lanka’s time to return the favour. “Sri Lanka remained target of terrorism for over 27 years and Pakistan fully supported and cooperated with it and now it is their turn,” said Sethi.

ICC security team will be reaching Pakistan in next two to three days

Besides the series against Lanka, the Pakistani fans will also get a chance to witness their ICC Champions Trophy winning team lock horns with the heavyweight stars from all over the world, when the green shirts will face World XI side.

Sethi confirmed that within two to three days, the security team from ICC will be landing in Pakistan. They will be guided by Punjab police and will be staying in the nation till the completion of the tour. “The ICC security team is reaching Pakistan in next two to three days which along with Punjab Police will look into security situation and team will stay in Pakistan till World XI tour,” concluded Sethi.
