PCB offers big money per match to foreign PSL players for playing in Pakistan
The final of last edition's PSL was successfully held in Pakistan.
Since the infamous attack on the Sri Lankan team bus more than 8 years ago, Pakistan has not seen much of international cricket. Zimbabwe were the only team to tour Pakistan in the interim until recently, the World XI side competed against the ICC Champions Trophy winning team. Sri Lankan Cricket has also promised to play a T20I match in Lahore, subjected to clearance from the security officials. Now, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is desperate to bring the mouth-watering action of Pakistan Super League (PSL) in Pakistan.
Owing the unwillingness of other teams to tour Pakistan, the green shirts had to play their home games in United Arab Emirates (UAE). PCB has reported that they have incurred huge losses, which amounts to around $120 million. Now that the international players are coming to the cricket crazy nation again, PCB wants their hugely successful franchise based T20 tournament to be played in Pakistan.
To bring the international superstars into Pakistan, PCB has a very attractive offer ready for them. The board has decided to pay the overseas stars $10,000 for playing one match on the Pakistani soil, something which will force the players to contemplate on.
PCB wants at least 6 to 8 matches in Pakistan
The final of the 2nd instalment of PSL was held in Pakistan, which featured world famous cricketers like Darren Sammy, Marlon Samuels, Chris Jordan and Morne van Wyk. For the third edition, PCB is trying to stage at least 6 to 8 matches in Pakistan.
“$10,000 per match is not a bad option for foreign players because the PCB is planning to host at least 6 to 8 PSL matches in Pakistan for the 3rd Pakistan Super League. So if a player even plays only three matches in Pakistan, he will get straight $30,000,” a source was quoted saying, as per the reports in Dawn.
