Peshawar Zalmi to support cricketer Zubair’s family
Zubair died after being hit by the bouncer on the head.
Peshawar Zalmi, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise, has decided to support the family of deceased cricketer Zubair Ahmed. Zubair died after being hit by a bouncer on the head during a club cricket match on 14th August. While the country was celebrating the Independence Day, the news struck as a severe shock to the family of the cricketer and also the fans.
The incident reminded everyone of the unforgettable tragedy involving Aussie cricketer Phil Hughes who also lost his life in a similar manner. It was also reported that Zubair wasn’t wearing a helmet when the incident took place. This has led to the calls to make a strict law for wearing the protective equipment.
Abdul Ghaffar, journalist and head of the sports desk of Dawn News, posted this news on his official twitter handle. His tweet read, “Peshawar Zalmi to support Cricketer Zubair family. Zubair died after hit by ball in match. His Brother will be with PZ for PSL3.”
This kind gesture from Peshawar Zalmi should come as a relief for Zubair’s family. Though the loss is irreparable, this is a golden opportunity for his brother. PSL is growing into one of the most successful leagues in the cricket world and the stalwarts of the world cricket play in this competition.
