‘Please finish the match early, I will go home’ – Nurul Hasan’s funny stump-mic comments go viral during Bangladesh’s fifth T20I against Australia
Sohan urged Shakib to pick up the final Aussie wicket as early as possible.
Before the start of the fifth game, Bangladesh had already sealed the fate of their T20I series against Australia. However, on Monday at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, the Tigers put their A-game forward as they beat the Aussies by a massive margin of 60 runs to win the series 4-1. Amidst the victory, hosts’ wicketkeeper Nurul Hasan Sohan had a bit of fun.
In the first ball of the 14th over, Shakib Al Hasan cleaned up Nathan Ellis after which Adam Zampa came out as the last man. At that point in the time, Bangladesh, well and truly were in the driver’s seat. The Aussies needed 65 runs at a required rate of over nine with a solitary wicket on hand.
Nurul Hasan wants to go home
Sohan urged Shakib to finish the game early as he wanted to go home after a long time. The 27-year-old Sohan spoke in Bengali that roughly translates to, “Please finish the match early. Will go home after a long time.”
Our team has very good potential in T20s: Mahmudullah
As far as the series was concerned, Mahmudullah was a proud man. Though the Tigers will be playing the qualifiers of the T20 World Cup, the Mymensingh-born reckoned that Bangladesh have the potential to succeed in the shortest format.
“Before the series, I had a chat with the bowlers. They needed to be more proactive and will have to take responsibility. The way the boys thought in every game, that was very pleasing. We can’t let anything pass our way in our conditions because I think we are a very good side at home. Our team has very good potential in T20s despite the rankings not showing it,” Mahmudullah said.
Shakib, the Player of the Match and the Series, was overjoyed as well. He went for 30 runs in one of the overs during the fourth T20I but made a stupendous comeback in the final game of the series.
“I am still enjoying my game. Thanks to my teammates, this achievement wouldn’t have been possible. The wicket was tough but we held our nerves. All in all, a very good series for us. To be honest, if you look at the last game, we scored 104 or 105 and got momentum towards the defence of the chase. It wasn’t easy for the batters in this series but the bowlers did well,” Shakib said.
