Cricket fans received an unexpected news when they saw a tweet from Shaun Tait announcing his retirement cricket. The tweet post by his Twitter handle read, “I would like to announce my retirement from cricket. Thank you everyone for their support through my career. I have been privileged enough to play with some great players and some amazing clubs. Peace.  @ Rajasthan Royals @Glam Cricket

Fans were surprised with the sudden announcement from the Australian fast bowler. However, some time later, it turned out that the tweet was not made by Tait. Tait clarified that the phone was with someone else who mischievously posted the tweets.

“Couple of bad eggs grabbed my phone!!!”

“Last two tweets were fake. As u’d be aware”

Shaun Tait and his career has been on a downward slide after appearing the 2011 Cricket World Cup. However, he continued featuring in domestic tournaments and was giving noteworthy performances in the Big Bash. His speed also did not see any drop. All these factors made the selectors announced his name in the T20 squad recent homes against India. Tait had never given any hints of retiring from the game anytime soon.

The last few days have seen a couple of retirement announcement from Australian cricketers. Firstly, veteran all-rounder Shane Watson revealed that he will no longer play international cricket. Watson decision to retire came a day prior to Australia’s last Super 10 stage game against India. He had announced that he’ll retire after the World T20. Unfortunately, the upcoming game turned out to be his last as the Aussies were eventually knocked out of the tournament after losing to India. Another cricketer who bid adieu to cricket was former speedster Clint McKay. He retired from both international and first class cricket.
