Ishant Shama’s engagement news was a huge surprise for cricket fans. He hardly had any link-ups before and was never been in the news for his personal life unlike some of his teammates. Therefore, the news about his engagement with India’s basketball star Pratima Singh came as a highly unexpected news.

The Lanky fast bowler normally isn’t very expressive and keep things to himself. On-field, he has been involved in heated battles with the opponents and comes across as an aggressive individual. But, according to his fiance, Pratima, the lanky pacer is a very decent and caring person.

“He’s the most decent guy around and extremely caring. We have been dating for quite a few years and I feel he’s the best guy in the world,” Pratima was quoted by TOI as saying. Revealing the other side of Ishant, Pratima told he’s the most romantic guy. “Oh, he’s the most romantic guy in the world. But only I’m privy to that aspect of his personality. He proposed to me in a car with roses and gifts,” she further added.

There’s always someone who plays cupid to couples. In Ishant’s case, it was Pratima’s elder sister Akanksha Singh, who is the captain of Indian women’s basketball team.

“Ishant met my sister three years ago when my friend and I had organised a basketball tournament for women players in Delhi. Ishant had come along with my friend. We are five siblings (four sisters and one brother) and extremely close.

So, when Ishant asked her out for the first time, Pratima, who is the innocent darling of the house, came running to me to ask if it was alright. Ishant is a decent guy so I gave a go ahead because I trusted him.

I’m glad that they are going to tie the knot. It will be a December wedding, though the date hasn’t been finalised yet,” Akanksha was quoted as saying. Ishant was engaged to Pratima on Sunday (June 19) and entered the list of cricketers who exchanged rings with their soul mates.
