Prithvi Shaw is an unbelievable talent: MSK Prasad
The youngster has made the headlines on his first day at the highest level.
The 18-year-old Prithvi Shaw has had a dream start to his international career. Right in his debut Test, the youngster notched up his maiden international century. He played some brilliant shots and didn’t show the nerves that any youngster usually does. Shaw was praised by one and all after the blistering innings including the chairman of selectors, MSK Prasad.
He hoped that if this Mumbai batsman is nurtured well, he would serve Indian cricket for a long time. Further, he also termed the U19 World Cup winning captain to be an unbelievable talent after the special knock of 134.
Shaw batted like an experienced campaigner
“He batted like someone who has played 50 Test matches,” Prasad was quoted as saying by the Times of India. The chairman of selectors went in with this child prodigy ahead of the likes of Murali Vijay and Shikhar Dhawan. and he repaid the faith the selectors and the management put in him in the very first game.
“He is an unbelievable talent and hopefully if he is nurtured well, he will serve Indian cricket for a long long time,” he added. Apart from Prasad, some of the reputed members from the cricketing fraternity heaped praises on Prithvi Shaw.
With a century on his international debut, Shaw completed the triple of scoring a century on his Ranji debut as well as Duleep Trophy debut. Given the competition for spots in the Indian lineup, it is extremely difficult to make it into the final cut. But, this youngster has shown the maturity of someone who has been playing for several years right in his first game.
He already has several international records to his name just after playing one inning. He became the fourth youngest Test debutant to score a century. Furthermore, he is the second youngest Indian after Sachin Tendulkar to score a Test hundred for India and third fastest in terms of balls faced.
