Fletcher asserted that he was banking on Darren Sammy’s words.
With the final phase of the Pakistan Super League all set to commence today, the atmosphere has been vibrant amongst the team circles. A lot of it has got to do with the two eliminators and the final being held in Pakistan. While some of the foreigners have bowed out, the others have agreed to travel to Pakistan.
Amongst the latest to join the list is the Windies player Andre Fletcher. Representing Peshawar Zalmi in this year’s PSL, he has agreed to travel to Lahore. Peshawar Zalmi are scheduled to play the Quetta Gladiators in the first eliminator. The Pakistan Super League final is supposed to take place in Karachi.
Who motivated him?
Fletcher confirmed the same and asserted that he was completely relying on Darren Sammy’s words. Sammy led Peshawar Zalmi to a title win last year at the Gaddafi Stadium. He was one of the foreign cricketers who travelled to Pakistan last year in the PSL. He later even represented the World XI in their tour of Pakistan.
There have been stringent security arrangements by Pakistan ahead of the final phase of PSL. Fletcher also conveyed that he had full faith in God to protect him. He further looked forward to trying Pakistani food which is known to be spicy.
Talking about cricket, the 30-year-old was delighted with the way Peshawar Zalmi have performed throughout the tournament. He praised his West Indian counterpart and Peshawar Captain Darren Sammy. He looked forward to the Zalmi defending their championship this time around.
He was confident of performing well for his team with regards to his experience so far in the tournament. Peshawar Zalmi qualified for the playoffs on Friday after defeating Lahore Qalandars by 7 wickets riding on Kamran Akmal’s stupendous hundred. Every match from here on will be a knockout for them.
