The third edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is going on a staggering flow with excitement boiling to the extreme level with every passing match. However, the current season has been a dismal one for the Lahore Qalandars so far, as they have lost all their 5 games in the tournament. They are currently placed right at the bottom of points tally and will surely desperately looking for that opening win to gain the much-needed momentum.

The Qalandars have now suffered a crucial blow as their overseas South African all-rounder Cameron Delport is most unlikely unavailable for the rest of the matches of the competition due to the death of his mother for which he would be returning to his native place.

Delport would be leaving for South Africa today

In a recent conversation,  Lahore Qalandars COO and manager Sameen Rana gave the information stating that Delport’s mother had passed away on Monday and the all-rounder will be returning to his home in Durban for the funeral on Tuesday. It is surely a very disheartening and painful moment for the cricketer’s family and the franchise official also requested everyone to reward their prayers for the departed soul and for the rest of Delport’s family members.

“It is with deep personal regret that I inform you that Cameron Delport’s mother has passed away today. Let us pray for the departed soul and for the bereaved family members,” said Sameen Rana as quoted by Geo TV.

No certainty on his return for the rest of the matches

Cameron has played only 2 of the five games this season for the Qalandars and has failed to make the most of the given opportunities to win the games for his side on both the occasions. Rana also revealed that the Protean all-rounder will not be available for the next game against Islamabad United on March 8, Thursday. He also isn’t clear on whether the overseas batsman would be returning on time for the rest of the PSL season.

“Cameron will be leaving to Durban for the funeral tomorrow and will not be available for the next game,” he added.

“We aren’t sure about that, we will see about that when the time comes,” Rana concluded giving the details on the current situation.
