PSL 2018: Cancer patients invited by Peshawar Zalmi for season opener
The tournament will kick start in Dubai with the defending champions Peshawar Zalmi taking on the new entrants Multan Sultans.
The 2018 edition of the Pakistan Super League is just a day away and the build up to the coveted T20 league has been immense. The tournament will kick start in Dubai with the defending champions Peshawar Zalmi taking on the new entrants Multan Sultans. Prior to the match, a star-studded opening ceremony has also been planned. The defending champions, Zalmis, are known for their acts of goodwill.
The franchise owners are keen on spreading the Zalmi family across the globe under the ‘Global Zalmi’ initiative. Also, they have another noble initiative named as #BringingBackSmiles. As a part of the very same noble cause, the Peshawar Zalmi have invited 13 young patients who are undergoing treatment at the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital to watch the opening ceremony and the first game of the PSL 2018.
As per the recent reports in the Geo.tv, all the 13 patients have arrived in Dubai and are all set to witness the third edition of the popular T20 league. It is worth noting that the franchise owner Javed Afridi had invited the patients to witness the PSL matches last year as well.
Afridi took to micro blogging site Twitter to express his happiness about the same. Also, he called these 13 kids as brave kids. He hopes that the Peshawar Zalmi will do their best to bring smiles on their faces.
Here are the tweets posted by the Zalmi owner Javed Afridi:
“These brave kids are very close to my heart and they deserve to be happy just like other kids do. Peshawar Zalmi will perform to the best of its abilities on the field in order to make them smile off it,” tweeted Javed Afridi.
“Proud to announce that as part of the #BringingBackSmiles initiative, 13 cancer patients from Shaukat Khanum have flown to Dubai to witness the #HBLPSL matches,” Afridi had written in an earlier tweet.
Afridi also shared pictures of the excited kids after their arrival in Dubai. He wrote, “Our special guest from @SKMCH arrived safely MashaAllah ! Pakhair Raghlay #Fajr #Dubai.”
