PSL 2018: Islamabad United's overseas cricketer keen to travel Pakistan for playoffs
They are currently topping the points table with 5 victories after 7 matches.
The ongoing season of Pakistan Super League (PSL) is fast approaching the playoffs with all the six teams mathematically alive in the tournament. Islamabad United is currently topping the charts with 5 victories from 7 matches and are looking good to make it to the knockouts. The final three matches of the league have been organised in Lahore and Karachi with few of the foreign cricketers already agreeing to travel to the country. However, now another overseas star of United is keen to play in Pakistan.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to revive international cricket in the country. They hosted World XI for three T20 Internationals last year after which Sri Lanka also played a solitary T20I game at Gadaffi Stadium. Also, the final of the last season was played at the same venue. Even Windies are all set to tour Pakistan for a three-match series in the shortest format in April ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Who is the cricketer?
Islamabad United have been on a roll after struggling at the start of the season and have almost qualified for the playoffs. Samit Patel played a crucial role in their last victory as he picked 4/34 while defending 182 for his team. He has agreed to travel Pakistan in case his team qualifies for the knockouts which looks a definite possibility now.
“Absolutely, I will be going to Lahore and Karachi if we qualify. I am looking forward to that. I am sure the guys are looking forward to play there. I was unfortunate to not be there with Zalmi last year, the overseas guy say that it was a good trip. I am really looking forward to that trip,” he said while speaking to Geo TV after the match on Thursday.
The all-rounder from England also termed PSL as the ‘best in the world’ and appreciated the bowling attacks of all the teams.
