PSL 2018: Shahid Afridi's magic delivery castles Kieron Pollard
Afridi also received the Man of the Match award for his brilliant performance in the game.
The third edition of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) has witnessed some of the thrilling bowling performances so far. Shaheen Afridi’s spell of 5/4 has been the best so far who plays for Lahore Qalandars under the leadership of Brendon McCullum. Even the veteran Shahid Afridi has unfurled his leg-spin during few matches to dismiss the batsmen. However, he stunned Kieron Pollard during the game against Multan Sultans by castling him with a magic delivery.
Karachi Kings, while batting first, posted a hefty total of 188 runs for the loss of three wickets on the back of stunning half-centuries from Joe Denly and Babar Azam. In response, Multan Sultans were never in the game as they kept on losing the wickets at the regular intervals and were eventually bundled out for 125 losing the game by a whopping 63 runs. Shahid Afridi returned with 3 wickets during his four-over spell conceding only 18 runs and he was only awarded Man of the Match.
Magic delivery cleans up Pollard
It was the 8th over of the chase as the skipper Shoaib Malik and Kieron Pollard were looking to resurrect the innings of their team. The second ball of the over bowled by Shahid Afridi to the latter pitched outside leg and turned sharply to clip the top of off stump which left Pollard wondering. This was one of the best balls of the tournament as no one would’ve been able to deal with it and then came the trademark celebration for the man himself.
With both his arms aloft, Afridi soaked in the applause from the crowd and also went on to scalp key wickets of Malik and Saif Badar which never allowed Multan to even get close to the total posted by Kings. Earlier in the tournament, Afridi had also plucked a brilliant catch on the boundary ropes which had earned him a lot of accolades as well.
