PSL 2019: Shahid Afridi ready for a new chapter in the tournament
Afridi played the last edition for Karachi Kings.
Shahid Afridi has been undoubtedly been one of the most followed players in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). He has retired from international cricket last May after playing for World XI in the match against Windies at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London. In the PSL, he has already played for a couple of franchises- Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings respectively.
After playing the first two seasons for the Zalmi, he was roped in by Karachi last season. He played nine matches in the tournament and could only manage 47 runs at an average of 9.40 and with a top score of 26. Nevertheless, the veteran was able to weave his magic with the leather, having picked up 13 wickets at an average of 16 and a jaw-dropping economy rate of 6.30.
Afridi set for the new journey
During the event, he was in an out of the team for the reason that he was suffering from a knee injury. Recently, he decided to leave the Kings and is now expected to play for another franchise in the upcoming edition. After bidding adieu to the team, he came up with an emotional tweet. He also mentioned that he would be looking forward to his journey ahead.
He took to Twitter and wrote, “Thank you to @KarachiKingsARY for a lovely time. Time for a new chapter in my @thePSLt20 journey. Will be following the #PSLDraft2018!,”

The Kings had a decent season last time around. They finished second on the points table with five wins from 10 matches. They lost the Qualifier against Islamabad United, the eventual champions, at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
To add to their agony, they slumped to a 13-run defeat against Peshawar Zalmi at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore in the second Eliminator. They are yet to win the championship and would want to turn their fortunes around in the upcoming edition of the league.
