Inside 24 hours after their maiden win of the season, the Lahore Qalandars succumbed to a record defeat against Islamabad United. Colin Munro batted through 20 overs scoring an unbeaten 87 from 59 balls while Luke Ronchi (48), Colin Ingram (29) and Asif Ali (20*) made crucial contributions to power Islamabad to 198/3. Qalandars lost the wicket of Chris Lynn on the 2nd ball of the chase but never recovered after that. They were down to 89/9 at a stage but Usman Khan scored a 14-ball 30 to reduce the losing margin to 71 runs.

Yet another win for Islamabad against Lahore:

6 – Islamabad United have not lost any of the six matches they played in the PSL against Lahore Qalandars since the start of 2018. They won each of their last five matches against Qalandars with another match ending in a Tie which they won in the Super Over. The Qalandars defeated United twice in the 2017 edition but lost both the matches against them during the inaugural tournament in 2016.


Record win for Islamabad:

71 – Islamabad United’s 71-run win in this match is the biggest margin of win in terms of runs in the Pakistan Super League. The previous biggest PSL win in terms of runs was Quetta Gladiators’ 67-run win against Karachi Kings while defending a target of 181 in 2018.

Islamabad United won by 50+ runs in the PSL only once before – by 50 runs against Peshawar Zalmi while defending their total of 176 in 2016. The previous biggest loss of Qalandars in terms of runs came against Islamabad only who won by 49 runs after posting the record total of 238 in 2019.


A record partnership:

1 – Luke Ronchi and Colin Munro pair is only the 6th overseas pair to share a century stand in Pakistan Super League but the first overseas pair from the same country do so.

Lendl Simmons-Shakib Al Hasan (109 in 2016), Dwayne Smith-Brad Haddin (104 in 2017), JP Duminy-Luke Ronchi (104 in 2018), Cameron Delport-Chadwick Walton (118 in 2019) and Ben Dunk-Samit Patel (155 in 2020) are the other overseas pairs with century stands in PSL.


Asif Ali @ 50 sixes:

50 – Asif Ali became only the 3rd player to smash 50 sixes in the Pakistan Super League. Shane Watson (77) and Kamran Akmal (73) are the other players to reach the milestone in the PSL.


A late cameo from Usman Khan:

4 – Usman Khan Shinwari struck four sixes during his 30-run knock. No other player batting at No.9 or lower position hit more than two sixes in a PSL match. The 30 runs he scored are also the joint 4th most by any player in a PSL game while batting at No.9 or lower spot.


Rumman and Shadab continue their good record against Qalandars:

10 – Both Rumman Raees and Shadab Khan claimed 10 wickets apiece in the PSL against Lahore Qalandars. Rumman played only 6 matches while Shadab featured in 8 games against Lahore in the PSL.
