PSL 2020: Match 18, Peshawar Zalmi vs Quetta Gladiators – Quetta's hat-trick defeat, Wahab's 100th wicket in Pakistan, Sarfaraz's milestone game and more stats

Peshawar Zalmi got their 3rd win of the season with a 30-run win over Quetta Gladiators in the 15-over match on Thursday. Shoaib Malik’s 27-ball 54 played a key role in powering the Peshawar Zalmi to 170/6. Mohammad Hasnain’s 4-wicket haul couldn’t stop Peshawar from posting a big total.

The Gladiators scored 59 runs in the first six overs and were in the hunt of chasing down the big total. However, the new skipper Wahab Riaz claimed three wickets including the dangerous Ben Cutting to turn the game into Peshawar’s hands.

Hat-trick defeats for Gladiators:

3 – Quetta Gladiators lost each of their last three matches in the Pakistan Super League; all three while chasing a target. The only other instance of Gladiators losing three consecutive matches in the PSL was during the 2018 edition.


Back to back wins for Peshawar against Gladiators:

7-8 – Peshawar Zalmi brought down the difference in the head to head record to 7-8 in the PSL against Quetta Gladiators. The Zalmi team defeated Quetta twice in the 2020 edition after losing all the four meetings in the 2019 edition.


Yet another 4-wicket haul for Hasnain:

1 – Mohammad Hasnain is now the first player in the Pakistan Super League with multiple 4-wicket hauls for Quetta Gladiators. A total of nine players including Hasnain have picked more than one 4-fer in PSL but only Hasan Ali has picked as many as three.


2 – Both the 4-wicket hauls of Hasnain in the PSL came in this season. He is now only the 3rd player after Hasan Ali (Three in 2019) and Faheem Ashraf (Two in 2019) to claim multiple 4-fers in an edition of PSL.


Wahab and Malik perform against Quetta yet again:

29 – Wahab Riaz now has picked up 29 wickets in the PSL against the Quetta Gladiators. Mohammad Nawaz (20 wickets vs Peshawar Zalmi) is the only other player with 20 or more wickets against an opponent in the PSL. Wahab picked those 29 wickets in 15 innings at an average of 11.89.


3 – Shoaib Malik’s 54-run knock on Thursday was his 3rd fifty in the PSL against the Quetta Gladiators. Malik and Dawid Malan are only players with three PSL fifties against the Gladiators.


Milestones for Peshawar players on Pakistan soil:

100 – With the two sixes in this match, Shoaib Malik became only the 2nd player to smash 100 sixes in the Twenty20 format on the Pakistan soil. Asif Ali has hit a total of 112 T20 sixes in Pakistan.


101 – With the controversial wicket of Ben Cutting, the left-arm pacer Wahab Riaz became the first player on Pakistan soil to complete 100 wickets in the Twenty20 format. Aizaz Cheema’s 96 wickets are the 2nd most for any player in T20s in Pakistan.


3013Kamran Akmal now has scored 3013 runs in the Twenty20 format on Pakistan soil. Only Shoaib Malik (3412) completed 3000 T20 runs in Pakistan before Kamran Akmal.


A milestone match for Gladiators:

50 – This match was the 50th in the Pakistan Super League for the Quetta Gladiators. Both Sarfaraz Ahmed and Mohammad Nawaz featured in all the 50 PSL games of the Gladiators.

Sarfaraz also became the first to feature in 50 PSL matches as captain as he was captain of Quetta in all the 50 matches they played.
