Islamabad United registered their first win of the PSL 2020 as they thumped the Multan Sultans by 8 wickets in Lahore. Amad Butt’s 4-wicket haul unsettled the Multan’s innings but a 29-ball 50 from Zeeshan Ashraf helped them to finish with 164/8. The target turned out to be too less for the United who raced to 63/0 in the powerplay overs.
Luke Ronchi (74 off 45) and Colin Munro (50 off 32) shared an opening partnership of 92 in only 9.5 overs by scoring fifties. Dawid Malan scored an unbeaten 35 off 21 balls as Islamabad chased down the target with 20 balls to spare.

20 – Islamabad United chased down the target of 165 in this match with 20 balls to spare; the 2nd biggest win in terms of balls to spare in the PSL while chasing a 160+ target. Islamabad themselves chased down 167 with 25 balls to spare against Lahore Qalandars in the 2016 edition.
United ahead on H2H record against Sultans:
3-2 – Islamabad United now leads the head to head record in the PSL against Multan Sultans by 3-2. Islamabad won both their matches in the 2018 edition against Multan but lost both the games played against them in the previous edition.
1 – This match recorded Multan Sultans’ biggest defeat in terms of balls to spare in the Pakistan Super League. Their previous biggest PSL defeat in terms of balls was by 14 balls when United chased down 114 in 17.4 overs in 2018.
This is also only the 2nd time Multan lost a PSL match by as big as 8-wicket margin. Quetta Gladiators chased down 161 against the Sultans in the previous edition by losing only two wickets.

3 – Luke Ronchi has scored three fifties across five innings in the Pakistan Super League against the Multan Sultans. He is now the first player to smash three fifties in the PSL against Multan team. Ronchi has a total of 215 against the Sultans which are the most number of runs for any player against them.

4048 – Luke Ronchi completed 4000 runs in the Twenty20 format when he went past his individual score of 26. Ronchi scored 4048 runs in his 198-match T20 career at an average of 24.98. He has got a batting strike rate of 153.62 which is the 4th highest for any player with 4000+ runs in this format.
Faheem equals Sami:
42 – Number of wickets for Faheem Ashraf has picked up for Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League. These are now the joint-most wickets in the PSL for Islamabad as Faheem equalled Mohammad Sami’s tally of 42 PSL wickets for United.
Ronchi levels with Kamran:
7 – Luke Ronchi won the player of the match award in the PSL for the 7th time; the joint-most number of match awards for any player in the PSL. Ronchi is now levelled with Kamran Akmal who received his 7th player of the match award in PSL during the afternoon match on Saturday.
