The advantage kept changing between Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars on Sunday where the visiting team pipped the Qalandars by a 1-wicket margin. Mohammad Hafeez scored an unbeaten 98 from 57 balls seven fours and seven sixes to power the Qalandars to 182/6 in the 20 overs.

Luke Ronchi and Colin Munro departed in the first two overs of the chase by the United’s skipper Shadab Khan promoted himself to No.4 and scored a 29-ball 52. Colin Ingram’s 14-ball 30 in the middle overs brought down the required rate. Shaheen Shah Afridi picked three wickets in his 2nd spell to leave Islamabad at 163/9 but an unbeaten 17 from Musa Khan took them home with a ball to spare.

A rare 1-wicket win in PSL:

2 – Islamabad United became only the 2nd team to win a PSL match by a 1-wicket margin. The other such result in the league history was recorded by Lahore Qalandars against Islamabad in 2017 while chasing a target of 146.


183 – The 183-run chase by Islamabad is now their highest successful chase in the PSL surpassing the 175-run chase against Quetta Gladiators in the 2016 edition.


Islamabad’s unbeaten streak over Qalandars:

0 – Islamabad United have not lost a PSL match against Lahore Qalandars since the start of 2018. United won both the meeting sin 2016 while the Qalandars go the better of United twice in 2017. The first league match between the two sides in 2018 ended in a Tie which Islamabad won in the Super Over. Post the Tied game, the two teams met four times in the league and the United won all those four matches.


Qalandars’ losing streak continues:

6 – Lahore Qalandars now lost each of their last six matches in the Pakistan Super League. This is the 2nd longest losing streak for any team in the PSL behind Karachi Kings’ seven consecutive defeats across 2016 and 2017 editions of the PSL. Lahore Qalandars spent 8 consecutive matches without a win across 2017 and 2018 editions which include a Tied match where they lost in the Super Over.


0-4 – Lahore Qalandars lost all the four PSL matches they played in Pakistan thus far. Their losing streak in Pakistan extends to five in all T20s as they lost to MCC at the Gaddafi Stadium before this tournament.


A record inning from Musa Khan:

17* – Musa Khan’s 17* in this game is now the highest individual score by a No.11 batsman in a successful Twenty20 chase. Previous highest is 12* by Chanaka Welegedara for Wayamba against Basnahira South during the Sri Lanka domestic T20 in 2008.


A big knock in a defeat:

99 – Mohammad Hafeez’s unbeaten 98-run knock is now the 2nd highest individual score in the Pakistan Super League in losing cause.  Ahmed Shehzad’s 99 against Karachi Kings last year was the highest individual score in the PSL to result in a defeat.

Shehzad got out at the score of 99 in the last over when Quetta Gladiators needed four runs from five balls. The Gladiators lost the game by 1 run as they managed to score only two more runs in the next four balls.


T20 milestones for Asif and Faheem:

100 – Faheem Ashraf completed 100 wickets in the Twenty20 format with the 2nd of the two wickets he picked up in the game against Qalandars.


3009 – Asif Ali completed 3000 runs in the Twenty20 cricket when his individual score went past nine. Asif’s strike rate reads 149.25 which is the 8th highest among the players with 3000+ T20 runs.
