The third edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) has already witnessed some breathtaking matches. The teams seemed to have settled with their combinations and would be eyeing to qualify for the playoffs as the tournament goes deep. However, intense competition on the field is bringing the best out of the players from Pakistan. The ongoing season has stormed ahead of Big Bash League (BBL) and Indian Premier League (IPL) in terms of catching success in the last couple of years.

The head coach of the national side Mickey Arthur has always stressed the importance of fitness at the highest level and is keen on improving the fielding of the team. His approach seems to have rubbed on the shoulders of all the players as the fielding standards have gone high in the ongoing edition. It would be interesting to see if they continue in the same way in the upcoming games.

This season has already seen some of the stunning catches by the likes of Shahid Afridi and Joe Denly which left their fans into the frenzy.

What about BBL and IPL?

Currently, according to cricket analytics website CricViz, this season of PSL is topping the list with the catch success percentage of 90. The last season had endured an overall 80% catch success and it will be a challenge for the players to keep the standards high throughout the tournament. In this case, IPL in 2016 is lagging behind as only 84% of catches were cleanly taken and is third on the list.

T20 Blast which is held in England is at the second position as far as the catches is concerned. A whopping 88% catch success was recorded in the tournament during its 2017 edition. However, the recently concluded Big Bash League saw the most number of dropped catches and is last on this list with 78% catch success. The rate dipped compared to its previous season as 81% catches were grabbed successfully by the players.
