Rahul Dravid denies reports suggesting his participation in BJP's meeting scheduled in Dharamsala
'I wish to clarify that the said report is incorrect', said Dravid
India Head Coach Rahul Dravid has come up with a clarification on media reports that said he will attend a political meeting in Himachal Pradesh and has denied all facts addressing them as rumours. Dravid has been a private person for long and has not indulged in any activities in the public, except for the cricketing activities. He never even shares any opinion on any topic and is focused only on his role with the team.
Dravid, however, found himself in the middle of an improbable tempest on Tuesday, when it was falsely reported that he will attend the BJP’s Yuva Morcha National Committee session in Dharamshala, which is set to take place between May 12 and 15.
Stating the news as rumors, Dravid said: “A section of the media has reported that I will attend a meeting in Himachal Pradesh from May 12th-15th, 2022. I wish to clarify that the said report is incorrect.”
The news broke out after the BJP Dharamsala MLA Vishal Nehria made a public announcement and claimed that the Indian coach would be present in the meeting. Nehria had said that Dravid’s participation would help the youngsters take a step further toward achieving a goal in their life. Nehria had not received any confirmation upon the concerned matter from Dravid, and his statement was out in the media in a short while.
“Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid will also participate in this. Owing to his success, a message will be given among the youth that we can move forward not only in politics but also in other fields,” Nehria was quoted by The Indian Express. The move, that backfired, came ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh that are supposed to happen later this year.
Dravid is at the NCA camp in Bengaluru with the young cricketers
The BCCI, on the other hand, has denied the news of Dravid’s participation at the BJP function. Dravid emphasized that the rumor was not true and that he was not slated to attend any such program, according to the BCCI media manager. Currently, Dravid is in Bengaluru and recently hosted a meeting at the NCA with players from the North Eastern States.
