Prithvi Shaw led Indian side is back to the country after emerging victorious in the 12th edition of the tournament. They beat Australia in the final at Mount Maunganui, New Zealand to clinch their 4th title. The praise of the whole squad along with the Indian coach is going on ever since wicketkeeper-batsman Harvik Desai hit the winning run on Saturday. From fans to the former cricketers were congratulating the whole side for the victory.

Rahul Dravid who has been known as someone who doesn’t enjoy the limelight much while speaking to the media had tried to share the accolades with all of the support staffs. BCCI had announced a reward for the whole team along with Dravid and the support staff. The announcement saw the players getting a prize money of Rs 30 lakhs.

The Indian coach was paid higher than the players as BCCI announced Rs 50 lakhs as a reward for the 45-year-old. The support staff would receive Rs 20 lakhs as their prize money for their involvement during India’s triumph.

Coach’s reward money a lot more than players’

“It’s a bit embarrassing at times because I tend to get a lot of attention and focus, but it is really about the support staff and the quality of people that we’ve had. I don’t want to mention names but everyone in the support staff has put in a great effort. We do the best for the kids,” Dravid had said after winning the final.

However, the discrimination in the award money had not gone down well with the former Indian captain. As per a report in Indian Express, Dravid was unhappy because of the massive differences in the prize money. If the reports to be believed, the U19 coach wants equal pay for every member involved in the campaign.

Well, one would think, only Dravid can do something like this. Self-less all the time. Upon returning to the country, Dravid spoke highly of the players as well who performed exceptionally well throughout the tournament and remained unbeaten.
