India and Sri Lanka are set to lock horns in the first and solitary T20 match of the series tomorrow on the 6th of September in Colombo. With the Tests and the One Day Internationals going completely in favor of the visitors, hosts Sri Lanka will look for redemption in the 20 over format. However, rain could play spoilsport during the high-intensity encounter leaving the fans disappointed.
Details:
The weather forecast for 6th of September is marked by high possibilities of heavy showers and thunderstorms. Incidentally, the showers are expected to start around 7 pm in the evening, which is the exact time the match is scheduled to start. The lone T20 encounter might be overshadowed by heavy rainfall which will bring the series to an end.
The final ODI of the 5 match series saw a 30 min delay in the toss due to the same. Fortunately, the match was not cut short and was kept as a full 50 over encounter. Chasing a target of 239 runs, skipper Virat Kohli slammed yet another century to register a comfortable victory for the men in blue. His flamboyant 110 run innings marked consecutive tons for the top notch batsman having scored 131 runs in the previous match.
The Sri Lankans are going through one of the most dismal phases in their cricket history with nothing going right for them. The Lions have been outclassed by the Indians in both the Test and the ODI battles in a complete whitewash. The Sri Lankan team is yet to win a match against the Indians in the series and the fans seem to have lost their cool. We saw an outrage from the fans on two occasions during the ODI series.
After the loss in the first ODI, the Sri Lankan fans surrounded the SLC office and hurled abuses at the management. The third ODI at Pallekele saw the Sri Lankan fans throw bottles on the ground when the Indians were just 8 runs away from victory.
