Rajasthan Royals troll Shashi Tharoor for his vocabulary after he praised Sanju Samson's double-hundred
Tharoor is known for using obscure vocabulary in his tweets.
The 2019-20 Vijay Hazare Trophy has seen it all! Damp squibs. Rain. More rain. Rescheduled games. One-sided encounters. Outstanding bowling performances. Humdingers. And, last but certainly not the least swashbuckling batting performances. The likes of Yashavi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson have light up the season.
The Kerala batsman has always been in the limelight for his precocious talent, outrageous hitting skills. So-much-so that the Rajasthan Royals batsman gave another account of his talent and skills that day against Goa. The right-hander smoked the bowlers to all corners of the ground, stroking a swashbuckling 129-ball 212*; an innings that included 21 fours and ten Brobdingnagian sixes- the fastest List-A double century by an Indian till date.
This was Samson’s maiden List-A hundred in 86-match career, and the right-hander proceeded to convert it into a Brobdingnagian double century. Samson’s double-hundred came in just 125 balls, and the right-hander is superseded by only Australia’s Travis Head and England’s Ben Duckett, both of whom reached their double-tons in 117 and 123 balls respectively.
Rajasthan Royals give Shashi Tharoor a taste of his own medicine
Expectedly, Sanju’s knock did not go unnoticed, prompting the Thiruvanthapuram Member of Parliament Shashi Tharoor, to take to Twitter where he asked whether the Indian white-ball selectors were taking note. Tharoor, like many others, has been a vocal supporter of Samson and has always opined that the Kerela wicketkeeper-batsman should be given a longer run in the Indian white-ball set-up.
Tharoor is known for using obscure vocabulary in his tweets. So, determined to give the MP the taste of his own medicine, the twitter handle proceeded to roast the Congress leader with their own version of Tharoor’s vocabulary. RR tweeted, “5 days late; took us that long to frame it. Call us puerile or rodomontade, but in this farrago, the Sanju Samson innings was a pulchritudinous source of amazement. ”
Tharoor’s request to the selectors may not go unnoticed because if the reports are to be believed, Samson’s timely double ton coupled with Rishabh Pant’s horrendous form could well pave way for the call-up to the national side for the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh which starts on November 03.
