Rajasthan Royals use Jofra Archer's 6-year-old tweet to announce the rescheduled IPL 2021
As the remaining 31 matches of IPL 2021 will be hosted in the UAE, Rajasthan Royals (RR) will be hoping to change their fortunes.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has finally put an end to all the speculations and rumors as they have decided to host the remaining matches of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in September-October window. IPL 2021 was suspended for an indefinite time on May 4 after there was a breach in the biosecure bubble and a few players and other members returned positive for Covid-19.
As soon as the news regarding the reschedulement of IPL 2021 surfaced on social media, Twitter was flooded with tweets and memes as the fans couldn’t keep their calm. The official Twitter handles of all the eight franchises also tweeted regarding the hosting of IPL 2021 in the UAE.
Meanwhile, it was the tweet by the 2008-champion Rajasthan Royals that caused a lot of buzz on social media and attracted the attention of a lot of Twitterati. RR’s decorated speedster Jofra Archer is quite famous for his ‘prophecies’ as many of his old tweets have resurfaced on social media time and again and have proved to be remarkably accurate.
Thus, RR used a tweet by Archer from 2015 where he tweeted “Have to go to Dubai”. Retweeting the old tweet by Archer, RR wrote, “You know it, Jof.” Notably, Jofra Archer gave the first leg of IPL 2021 a miss due to his hand and elbow injury.
Rajasthan Royals will be hoping to change their fortunes in UAE
As the remaining 31 matches of IPL 2021 will be hosted in the UAE, Rajasthan Royals (RR) will be hoping to change their fortunes. Royals weren’t experiencing an ideal run in IPL 2021 as they were positioned at fifth position on the points table with four victories from seven matches.
RR started their campaign with a loss against Punjab Kings by four runs. Though the franchise returned back to the winning ways by scripting a victory against Delhi Capitals in the next encounter, they lost their next two games on the trot against Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore respectively. This was followed by RR winning against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders while losing against Mumbai Indians.
