Ramiz Raja compares ‘Hitman’ Rohit Sharma to Rolls-Royce
Rohit scored 118 in just 43 balls as India posted their highest T20I total of 260/5.
After witnessing a few incredible double hundreds in the ODI format, fans all over the world are waiting for a double hundred in the T20 format. To even think that a player can score 200 runs in a 20-over game seems absurd. But in the modern day game, players have shown that there is no limit to what can be achieved. Rohit Sharma, popularly known as ‘Hitman’ for his power-hitting abilities has rocked the cricketing world by smashing a 35-ball hundred against a hapless Sri Lanka side.
Just days after his third double hundred in ODIs, Rohit Sharma played an innings at a strike rate of 275 that included 10 sixes and 12 fours. The way he was caressing the ball was simply breathtaking. Such was the fluency of Rohit’s innings that the commentators on air were even thinking of a double hundred from the hitman. Cricket pundits were full of praises for the man who has scored the joint fastest 100 in a T20 international game.
Ramiz Raja’s special tweet
Rohit Sharma, the stand-in captain of the Indian team in absence of Virat Kohli, was congratulated my millions on Twitter including the Pakistan batsman Ramiz Raja. “There’s a Rolls Royce advert which asks you to relax, sit back let innovation set your imagination free & that control is only a fingertip away -think could be a perfect voice over for Rohit Sharma who stately glided into record books with another dazzling batting master class!!” Ramiz tweeted. He has been a fan of Rohit’s batting and has always heaped praises on the Indian batsman.
Rohit scored 118 in just 43 balls as India posted their highest T20I total of 260/5 and went on to win the match by 88 runs, thanks to young spin twins Yuzvendra Chahal (4/52) and Kuldeep Yadav (3/52) who took seven wickets between them. The young team has now taken a 2-0 lead in the three match series that has made the third game a ‘dead rubber.’ It is the best chance to experiment with the likes of Thampi, Siraj and Hooda in the squad. They would be itching to have a go at the Lankans who seem to sink deeper and deeper.
The Lankans got a momentum in the initial stages with Kusal Perera’s brisk 50. But the target of 261 was always gonna be too big to chase. Losing six wickets in the span of twelve deliveries didn’t help their cause. It seems like the Sri Lankan team is waiting to catch a flight back home as with every match they break new records that they rather not have against their name.
