In the current scenario, it won’t be wrong to say that the Australian team is in the sea with no sailors on the deck and there is no one in sight who can rescue the unit. Their performance against Pakistan in the first of three-match T20I series was a perfect example of how things can take a turn for the worse. The versatility of the opposition’s bowling attack rattled the Aussies as they didn’t even manage to play their quota of 20 overs.

The Men in Yellow did well to restrict Pakistan to a score of 155 runs with Billy Stanlake and Andrew Tye managing to pick six wickets between them. However, what followed was nothing short of an embarrassment and skipper Aaron Finch admitted that as well. None of their batsmen showed the application required and the game drifted away from them in mere five overs of the second innings.

Australian were six down with just 22 runs on the board which not only tells you the story of the match and largely about the state of the batting unit. Following this forgettable performance, former Pakistan batsman and commentator Ramiz Raja took Twitter to express his views on Australia’s performance. He praised the number one ranked T20I side in the world while also calling Australia’s batting approach cocky.

He said, “Australia’s power hitting batting mentality may be suited for true pitches against one-dimensional bowling attacks not against Pakistan. This approach bordering on cockiness to obliterate bowlers at will needs a revisit… Pak was unbelievably good with the ball!!”

It will be interesting to see if the Aussies can turn things around and come back strongly in the second game against a formidable bowling line-up which is scheduled to be played on 26th October at the Dubai International Stadium.
