Ranchi to host the Second Qualifiers of IPL: The IPL Governing Council has announced the venue for the second qualifiers that will be played on May 22 between the loser of the first qualifier and the winner of the eliminator. As per the statement released by the IPL governing council, The Jharkhand State Cricket Association International Stadium Complex in Ranchi will host the second qualifiers.
Earlier, it was announced that Wankhade Stadium, Mumbai will host the first qualifier and Maharashtra Cricket Association International Stadium, Pune will host the eliminator and Eden Gardens, Kolkata will host the finals. The venue for the second qualifier was not announced in the past.
The statement said The first qualifier between the first and the second placed teams in the round robin league stage will be played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on May 19. The eliminator between third and fourth-placed teams will be played at the MCA International Stadium, Gahunje, Pune on May 20. The second qualifier between the loser of the first qualifier and winner of eliminator will be played in JSCA International Stadium Complex, Ranchi on May 22. The final will be played at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on May 24.
Eden Gardens got the bragging rights to host the Finals courtesy the home team got crowned as the IPL Champions last season. According to the organisers, the finals of an edition will take place in the home of the defending champions.
