Baroda batsman Deepak Hooda made merry of the Punjab bowlers on day 1 of the 4th round of the Ranji Trophy 2016-17. Their top order was dismissed early as both Kedar Devdhar and Aditya Waghmode fell to Sandeep in the first and fifth over of the inning. But thereafter Dhiren Mistry and Hooda a 179-run partnership to bring back Baroda in the game. Hooda was magnificent with his stroke play and hit as many as 16 boundaries and 3 sixes in his unbeaten knock of 190 from just 215 balls.

In the Maharashtra vs Rajasthan match in Hyderabad, the former elected to bat first. Naushad Shaikh and Ankit Bawane shared a 177-run stand for 3rd wicket in 57.2 overs before Bawane edged to keeper and walked off despite the umpire turned down the appeal of Pankaj Singh. He scored 83 off 174 with 10 fours and 2 sixes. Naushad went on to bring up his maiden century with his 17th boundary in 239 balls. He shared an unbeaten 63-run stand before going to stumps with Tripathi for the 4th wicket. Naushad hit a six and 18 fours in his unbeaten innings of 118 off 256 balls. A total of 73 overs were bowled by Team Rajasthan pacers out of the 88 overs. In addition, they bowled 17 no balls as well.

There were only 4.2 overs possible in the Himachal Pradesh vs Hyderabad game while Railways and Jharkhand bowled out their respective opponents Bengal and Vidarbha on day 1 of the 4th round. Here is the how the day panned out.
