IPL: Ranking 10 worst releases in the league history
The history of IPL has seen many shocking player releases.
1. AB de Villiers (DD)
Even AB de Villiers just like many eminent T20 stars had started his IPL career with the DD franchise. The cricketer initially was bagged for INR 1.2 Crore in the inaugural season and had received a similar salary for the next two IPL seasons. Even in terms of performances, ABD had played a total of 28 games across three seasons and had scored a total of 671 runs that also includes his impressive average of above 50 in the 2009 edition.
However, with the DD team finding it an unsatisfactory affair, De Villiers was made to exit before the 2011 mega auction. And as the rest is history, the RCB franchise had immediately then bagged him for more than INR 5 Crores which in return also instantaneously helped the franchise to qualify for the 2011 IPL finals.
Overall, by emerging as an eternal vital pillar of the RCB team, ABD has scored a total profusion of 4385 runs across a decade. In fact, the red army has not only seen or experienced his prime years but also now cherishes his vintage days. Hence, while the DD franchise had an unparalleled opportunity to cast ABD at the helm, the RCB franchise on the other note has made him the finest all-time great of the game.
