Chris Gayle is one of the biggest names in the T20 circuit. The universe boss had dominated the IPL for many years along with RCB. But, nobody had expected the management to release a legend like Gayle. Their replacement for him was Sarfaraz Khan.
Yes, it was one of the biggest blunders in the history of the tournament. The youngster was retained ahead of the likes of KL Rahul, Chris Gayle. Well, he had an impressive debut season in 2015. But, it was somehow an “out of this world” decision by the management.
His form dipped and he scored just 51 runs with an average of 10.20. Adding on, he was released in the next season. There was no justification for releasing someone like Chris Gayle. Hence, this is the worst retention in the history of the tournament.
