He bowled 18 dot deliveries throughout his period, which is quite impressive for a bowler in the final. In 15 games, he took 23 wickets at a remarkable 6.88 economy rate.
Apart from his resurgence in limited overs cricket, he continued his dream run in Test match cricket. In six games, he took 13 wickets at a remarkable average of 21.8. His ability to deliver in the nagging lines on a consistent basis makes him a difficult bowler to confront. He has the ability to consistently manufacture jaffas. Another bowler, who was considered as someone predominantly for Test cricket, <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/winning-away-from-home-is-becoming-hard-kane-williamson-and-tim-southee-list-nzs-major-area-of-improvement/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tim Southee</a>, stamped his authority in the limited-overs formats. Southee, a legend in the game&#8217;s longest format, had a fantastic 2021 season. He was the architect behind New Zealand&#8217;s World Test Championship victory. In the second innings, he took 4/48, destroying India&#8217;s batting line-up and leading New Zealand to their first ICC title.
In ten Test matches, he took 22 wickets at an astounding average of 23.5. He had two five-wicket hauls to his name. Another performance worth a mention was his five-wicket haul in India. With his excellent line and length, he unsettled the Indian batters and notched up a five-wicket haul on a slow Kanpur pitch. His outstanding performance in India helped New Zealand salvage a hard-fought draw.
He punched above his weight in T20Is as well, in addition to his Test achievements. He was the new ball specialist and a primary enforcer for New Zealand in the middle overs. In 17 games, he took 24 wickets at an impressive economy rate of 7.26.
He included a number of variations including the wobble seam or the 3/4th seam in his arsenal. With his amazing progress in 2021, he will be capable of serving New Zealand in all formats for many more years in the future.
