Justin Langer has been a tough individual and the man should be credited for where Australian cricket is right now. He took over the team’s reins after the infamous ball-tampering scandal in South Africa which had led to Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft getting banned and the coach Darren Lehmann resigning.

As soon as he joined the team, Langer was clear with his plan and wanted the team to earn the respect of the fans back. And he, along with the new skipper Tim Paine, worked towards the only goal. No wonder, Langer and his team took time to gel along and had to go through extremely tough times when England whitewashed them in the ODI series.

But the team stayed together and despite losing to India in Tests at home for the first time, they weren’t deterred. This resulted in Australia returning the favour to India in the ODIs later in the year and then storming into the semi-finals of the World Cup. The cherry on the cake or rather say the biggest achievement of Australia under Langer was the team retaining the Ashes in England.

Though there are still a few issues in terms of team combination, Justin Langer has handled the team really well and the future looks good for the team.
