<p>The IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals occupies the last spot in terms of money spent on the players in the auction in their 14-year history in the league. The 2008 champions have shelled out just INR 524.29 Crores in the auction and have managed to sign foreign players like Ben Stokes, Steve Smith, Jofra Archer, and Jos Buttler.</p>
<p>At present, all-rounder Ben Stokes and captain Steve Smith are their most expensive players as RR retained both the players for a whopping INR 12.5 crore each ahead of the 13th edition of T20 Extravaganza.</p>
<p>The team had a torrid run in IPL 2020 as for the first time, they finished at the eight position in the points table with just 12 points under their belt in 14 fixtures.</p>
<h3>7. Sunrisers Hyderabad – 554.67 Crore</h3>

<p>Despite joining the Indian league from the 2013 edition, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has managed to spend a considerable amount of money in the auctions to build a strong side over the years. The Orange Army has splurged 554.67 Crores at the auction.</p>
<p>Sunrisers pay the Australian opening batsman David Warner, who was responsible for taking the team to their maiden title in 2016, a staggering amount of INR 12 crore followed by the Indian batsman Manish Pandey, who gets a salary of INR 11 crore.</p>
<p>Though Warner &amp; Co. had a slow start in IPL 2020, they bounced back stronger as they confirmed a berth for themselves in the playoffs of the league. SRH defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Eliminator but were outshined by the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the 2nd Qualifier and were out of the race to the finale.</p>

<p>Chennai Super Kings (CSK), led by former Indian captain MS Dhoni, is considered one of the most successful franchises in the history of the league. To earn this title, the management has spent almost INR 675 crores on their players in the auction.</p>
<p>Notably, CSK was out of the league for two years in 2016 and 2017. MS Dhoni has the most expensive contract in the team as CSK pays him a staggering amount of INR 15 crore for his services as a batsman and captain of the team.</p>
<p>IPL 2020 was the first time in their 11-year history that the Super Kings failed to qualify for the second stage of the T20 extravaganza. They had a disappointing season in IPL 2020 and finished at seventh position with 12 points in their bag from 14 games.</p>

<p>Though Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) is yet to win its maiden title, the team has shelled out a whopping INR 686.56 crore in the auction to sign some greats of the game. Over the years, they have picked some world-class players in their team but haven&#8217;t gained fruitful results.</p>
<p>Ahead of IPL 2020, KXIP had retained the wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul for a handsome amount of INR 11 crore while they had spent INR 10.75 crore and INR 8.50 crore to add all-rounder Glenn Maxwell and pacer Sheldon Cottrell respectively in their squad.</p>

Though the team is striving hard to make a winning combination and win their maiden IPL crown, they have a humongous fan following owing to the presence of some big international names in the team.</p>
<p>RCB and Indian team skipper Virat Kohli boasts of having the most expensive <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/t20/ipl-indian-premier-league/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><strong>IPL contract</strong></a> of all time.
