3. Kolkata Knight Riders – 769.29 Crore
The 2012 and 2014 champion Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have done a decent job in the past 13 years of the Indian league. The team is heavily reliant on its overseas talent and spends a lot of money to retain or add international match-winners to their team.
While they retained the Caribbean all-rounder Sunil Narine at a stunning amount of INR 12.50 crore for IPL 2020, KKR won the race of making the highest bid in Auctions 2020. They outshined all the teams by making an astounding bid of INR 15.5 crore to add Australian pacer Pat Cummins to their squad.
The Knight Riders had changed their captain midway in the competition this year, but this didn’t change the team’s fortune as they failed to make it to the playoffs due to a low net run rate that Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
