Surprisingly, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), tops the charts in terms of spending money on the players in the auction in their 14-year history in the league with INR 821.55 crore. Though the team is striving hard to make a winning combination and win their maiden IPL crown, they have a humongous fan following owing to the presence of some big international names in the team.
RCB and Indian team skipper Virat Kohli boasts of having the most expensive IPL contract of all time. He gets paid a staggering amount of INR 17 crore per season. Virat is followed by South African batsman AB de Villiers who gets a salary of about INR 11 crore.
RCB was going strong in the IPL 2020 tournament with five wins in the first seven games, however, the team lost the winning rhythm at the end of the tournament and they ended their campaign in IPL 2020 with five losses, on a trot. Though the Bangalore outfit had managed to qualify for the playoffs, they were knocked out by Sunrisers Hyderabad during the Eliminator.
