Rashid Khan goes emotional on Twitter remembering deceased father
The 21-year-old Rashid’s father passed away on December 30 last year.
Every cricketer has ups and downs in his personal life. Recently, teenage Pakistan pacer Naseem Shah made the headlines for having lost his mother while on tour of Australia. The 16-year-old did not return home for her funeral and focused on the Test series with the Kangaroos. In the past, cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli showed their strength of character by returning to the game despite losing their fathers with whom they were close.
On Thursday, the cricketing world saw another talented player remembering his deceased father on Twitter and saying how much he missed him during the day. It was one of those moments when one is overwhelmed by emotions and Rashid found himself being consoled by the fans.
The 21-year-old Rashid’s father passed away on December 30 last year and the former revealed the same himself on Twitter. He said on that occasion that he lost the most important person in his life — his father. He said he needed strength on that day to bear with the loss. He had posted the same photo on that day as he did on Thursday.
Rashid recently led Afganistan to win T20I series vs West Indies
Rashid has been picked as the new captain of Afghanistan after their dismal campaign at the ICC World Cup. He made a poor start by losing an ODI series against the West Indies in India 0-3 but won the T20I series 2-1 by coming back from behind. Personally, though, the leg-spinner did not have a special series unlike in the Test match that he led Afghanistan to a win over Bangladesh in September. Rashid was picked the man of the match for bagging 11 wickets for only 104 runs.
Rashid, who had a less-than-satisfactory World Cup in England this year, has 20 wickets in three Tests; 133 wickets from 71 ODIs and 84 wickets in 45 T20Is. He is the No.1 bowler in T20Is as per the ICC’s latest rankings followed by his compatriot Mujeeb ur Rahman.
