Rashid Khan is the best bowler in the world: Ben Cutting

Afghanistan have been a true find in limited overs cricket, having performed exceptionally well when up against some major teams in the world. Amongst their group of players is Rashid Khan, a leg-spinner who has just turned 20, and the one who is dominating the world with his lethal bowling. Rashid is one of the most sought-after cricketers in T20 leagues across the globe and has received immense praise from fellow cricketers and experts for his consistent performances with the ball.

Now the Australian all-rounder Ben Cutting has come out to say that Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan is currently the best bowler in the world. Rashid, considered a T20 specialist, has already claimed 191 wickets in the shortest format of the game. The leggie also has a total of 184 international wickets under his belt. He maintains a miserly economy rate of 3.90 in ODIs, averaging just under 14.5. Rashid also boasts of career-best figures of 7 for 18 in ODIs.

Afghanistan cricket in a good spot

The 31-year-old Ben Cutting is currently captaining the Nangarhar Leopards in the ongoing Afghanistan Premier League. He also thinks that cricket in Afghanistan is in a ‘pretty good spot’. “There are some fantastic players out there. Some of these guys, some of these spinners that we have in our team, are as good as the best spinners in the world at the moment. We saw how Rashid Khan came to the fore in the IPL. He is the best bowler in the world,” he said in an exclusive interview to Sportskeeda

Cutting, who was playing in the CPL before the APL, added that playing as a freelancer in various T20 tournaments around the world isn’t for everyone and not the way forward. However, he admitted that he is quite happy doing it at the moment. He also shares the dressing room with Rashid Khan in the IPL with the Sunrisers Hyderabad, who had made it to the final of the cash-rich tournament in 2018.

“I don’t think it is the way forward for the entire sport but it suits certain people, certain personalities. I have my own reasons between retiring from Cricket Australia and Queensland to come and play these tournaments and I am much happier now doing what I am doing than I was in the last couple of years playing cricket,” he concluded.
