The last few days have not been good for the game of cricket and particularly for Cricket Australia. The Australian cricket team symbolizes the sporting talent in the country and is expected to play the game within the rules and maintain high standards. However, three players have been involved in an incident that they will regret for the rest of their lives. Steve Smith, probably the most important sportsperson in Australia alongside David Warner, who has a big fan base across the globe will not be playing cricket for 12 months.

The ball tampering incident occurred in the third Test between South Africa and Australia. Soon after the verdict on the incident- Smith, Warner and Bancroft were asked to leave South Africa. Though the players have been punished severely, many experts have sympathized with them and have called for their support. The picture of Warner and his family moving out of the airport in tears is very disturbing.

Rashid Khan, the Afghanistan leggie, found it disturbing and has asked the fans around the world to offer their support and love to Warner in his tough times. He tweeted, “This picture broke my heart, how can the cricket fans be so harsh. everyone makes mistakes and best among them are those who accept their mistakes and apologize, So stand with the champ and support him when he really needs our support and love.”

The leg-spinner has played under David Warner for the SunRisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League. Warner has been a great servant to Australian cricket and he must not be labelled as a criminal. He made an error of judgement in the Test series and has paid the price for it.

However, instead of being harsh, fans must remain loyal to him and offer their full support. This support from the fans and close ones can prove to be a decisive factor in Warner staging a comeback and playing for his country again. At the moment, the chances of the 30-year old appearing for Australia again seem to be bleak.
