After a long break to the cricketing action due to the coronavirus pandemic, many Indian cricketers are getting back on the field to resume their game with so much audacity. After the central government has lifted many restrictions that were imposed before in view of the deadly virus, the players have started to get into the groove by hitting the nets.

The likes of Suresh Raina, Rishabh Pant, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, Piyush Chawla and Shikhar Dhawan have already started their preparations for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The carrom ball specialist, Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is the latest to join in this list.

With the scheduled T20 World cup cancelled and the BCCI taking the slots to host the 13th edition of the cash-rich league in its place, cricketers are leaving no stone unturned to get back to the playing ways.

The Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) has recently confirmed the happening of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the September-November window with the hosting rights given to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). In a bid to gear up for IPL 13, Ashwin hit the nets where he can be seen enjoying his batting session.

Ashwin has been active on social media amid the pandemic

Ashwin shared the video of his practice session on his official Instagram handle, where he can be seen relishing the sweet sound of bat and the ball. He wrote, “Bliss!! #cricket #soundofbatonball”

Apart from this, the 33-year-old veteran spinner has been very active on social media platforms ever since the lockdown came into place in the country. Earlier, the off-spinner used to conduct Instagram Live sessions with his teammates and still comes up with interesting quizzes for his fans on the platform. In addition, he has been working out rigorously and shares clips of the same on the social media platform.

As he remains out of favour from Team India’s limited-overs setup, this year’s IPL will be a set stage for him to prove his point. Ashwin was last seen in action in the two-match Test series between India and New Zealand in their own backyard. He featured only in the opening Test claiming three wickets.

Ashwin represented and led KXIP between 2018 and 2019 seasons of IPL and will now play for Delhi Capitals in the upcoming season of IPL. The experienced campaigner was traded by his former franchise, Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). He will play alongside the likes of Ishant Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer. He recently said that he joined Delhi Capitals to help them become “front-runners” for a title victory.

Ashwin started out his IPL career with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the inaugural edition. He remained with the MS Dhoni-led side till 2015. The off-spinner was a vital cog of CSK’s victorious back-to-back IPL campaigns in 2010 and 2011.
