Race between Virender Sehwag and Ravi Shastri
If sources are to be believed, the whole Indian Head Coach hoopla has taken an interesting turn as reports suggests that Indian skipper Virat Kohli still wants former Indian Team Director Ravi Shastri to be instated as the Head Coach while the key officials of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are backing Virender Sehwag for the coveted post in the Indian ranks.
It is learned that the Sultan of Multan has the backing of BCCI Treasurer Anirudh Chaudhary who has had a cordial relation with Virender Sehwag. Earlier in 2015, Chaudhary wholeheartedly supported the decision of Viru to play for Haryana after his fallout with Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) and provided the latter with the NOC.
Face-off between Viru and Shastri
The Nawab of Najafgarh attracted all sorts of headlines after he posted just a couple of lines in his CV for the application of post of Head Coach, mentioning that he knows all the players personally and thereby posting the shortest CV ever. But it is not yet sure whether any of the key officials has prompted Viru to apply for the job. So connecting all the dots, it is only fair to say that presently a race between Ravi Shastri and Viru.
So connecting all the dots, it is only fair to say that presently a race between Ravi Shastri and Viru. BCCI also made special efforts to mend its relations with Ravi Shastri who was neglected by the Cricket Advisory Committee last year which led to a war of words between Shastri and Ganguly. But it is comprehended that Kohli’s decision will be given enough weightage this time around.
“At present no other candidate is the front runner but one never knows. We have still few more days to receive the applications. Yes, Viru is outspoken on social media. But then he would be instructed to keep his mouth shut. At the most, he would say, so what ?, if India loses any match or series” commented the source according to Kashmir Times.
