Ravi Shastri brings the best out of Virat Kohli, says Dean Jones
He doesn't think it is much of a trouble that they travel to South Africa soon after the conclusion of the home series against Sri Lanka.
The Indian team has been scaling heights under the duo of captain Virat Kohli and coach Ravi Shastri. Team India has lost just one Test in the last two years. Furthermore, they have so far never lost a series under skipper Kohli. The upcoming South African tour is going to be his first big challenge overseas.
Former Australian cricketer Dean Jones was full of praise regarding Virat Kohli. Recently in an interview, Deano revealed that his favourite cricketer was the Indian captain Virat Kohli and spoke about India’s chances against South Africa. He also felt that the rigorous schedule wasn’t an issue if the team is doing well.
Ravi Shastri brings the best out of Kohli
He felt that the 29-year-old had taken over the aggression from the Sehwag era. He praised coach Ravi Shastri for firing up Kohli. He was also looking forward to the batter doing well on the upcoming tour.
“Virat Kohli is my favourite player and he has taken over from Virender Sehwag. I love his aggression and belief to score runs on any pitch and Ravi Shastri brings the best out of Kohli as well. I’m expecting Virat to do a good job in South Africa,” he was quoted as saying to NDTV.
I love how Mohammed Shami goes about his bowling
On a green track at the Eden Gardens, the duo of Mohammed Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled significantly well. The spinners came into play during the Nagpur Test. Jones wouldn’t be surprised if India go on to win the series.
He is also of the opinion that since the Indian team wase in a good patch, they shouldn’t mind playing more games. He mentioned that with the amount of money they are paid, as professionals they need to keep playing.
“I can’t speak on behalf of Kohli or Dhoni. But when in form and you’re playing well, making runs and winning easily, you just need to keep playing. When you’re down and being smashed like Sri Lanka at the moment, then you want the season to end quickly. These guys are getting paid millions of dollars, hence they need to keep play serious.”
He doesn’t think it is much of a trouble that they travel to South Africa soon after the conclusion of the home series against Sri Lanka.
“I got no problem with the schedule they have now. They should get over with Sri Lanka, quickly adjust and do well in South Africa.” He further told to NDTV.
