Ravi Shastri and team India support staff to get pay hike next year
At the moment, Ravi Shastri is receiving INR 7 crore as his salary.
The new head coach of the Indian team, Ravi Shastri, and the other support staff of the national side are set to get a pay hike next year. They will be entitled to a hike in pay by 10 per cent of what they are getting at the moment. The hike will be in the second year of their two-year contract with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). At the moment, Ravi Shastri is receiving INR 7 crore as his salary.
However, it was speculated that the board had decided that the salary of the head coach will not exceed INR 7.5 crore. But, now, with the reports of a pay hike surfacing, Ravi Shastri could well be fetching close to INR 8.25 crore as his fees in the second year. Among the other officials – the support staff and the India A and India U19 head coach Rahul Dravid – will also receive a 10 per cent hike in their salaries next year.
“The coaching staff has been demanding hikes and this is the best way to settle the matter. After finishing one year at work, they would be entitled to get 10 per cent hike in their salary. Which means, if Dravid is paid Rs 4.5 crore for his services to India ‘A’ and Under-19 teams, he would be getting around Rs 5 crore in his second year,” a BCCI official quoted as per the quotes in the Times of India.
New coach, new assignments
The Indian cricket team is currently in Sri Lanka for their next international assignment. This will be the first assignment for Ravi Shastri as the head coach of the Indian team after being re-appointed at the helm of the national side.
A fall out between skipper Virat Kohli and former coach Anil Kumble had resulted in the exit of the latter. The void created was filled by Shastri, after Virat Kohli reportedly asked the CAC to appoint Shastri as the head coach.
