Team India head coach Ravi Shastri must be delighted to start his second spell at the position with a bang. Team India marked his inaugural Test match after taking over the duties from Anil Kumble, with a win. The visitors were dominant throughout the Test match at Galle as they gave the hosts a hint of their mighty strength. Ravi Shastri could not have asked for a better start than a 304 run victory and the man took to his official Twitter account to express his feelings.

The main story:

Shastri wasted no time in making his thoughts public as he posted a status update following the win. Shastri hailed his team for a comprehensive victory lauding their efforts. Shastri also mentioned that this is just beginning of a long road ahead. The line was paired with a picture of the winning moment where we can see skipper Virat Kohli shaking hands with Ravichandran Ashwin.

His tweet read “Good start boys. Well played. Way to go #TeamIndia #SLvIND”

When the CAC appointed Ravi Shastri as the man to replace Anil Kumble, they made it clear that they are looking for positive results. Nothing short of a win will be tolerated by the board. Ravi Shastri did absolute justice to his role in his very first outing as India reigned supreme in Colombo. The Test rediscovered Shikhar Dhawan as a Test player which is a bonus for the team. Virat Kohli who was struggling with his form in the longest format of the game scored a gutsy hundred in the second inning. The century will work as a huge boost for the batsman as he stormed his way back to form.

Hardik Pandya got his first Test cap and was decent with both bat and ball. Cheteshwar Pujara continues to grow as a Test player by scoring a trademark and composed century in the first inning. The deadly duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja rose to the occasion on the 4th day after being heavily criticized during India’s Champions Trophy campaign. Overall, the Test was the match was a treat to watch if you are an Indian fan with the team’s future shining brightly as a diamond.
