Ravichandran Ashwin appears for the Yo-Yo test in Bangalore
"Yo yo test done and dusted," Ashwin said.
Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has been in a terrific form in the longest format of the game both for India and also made a mark for his English county side Worcestershire. He enjoyed an incredible debut county season and claimed two five-wicket hauls and also scored an important half-century for his side with the bat. After a great season in the difficult English conditions, Ashwin is currently leading the bowling of his Ranji Trophy side Tamil Nadu.
The Yo-Yo test of late has been the hot topic of discussion. It has been widely reported that the fitness test remains a parameter for selection in the Indian team and only those who clear it are considered eligible. While a few famous names like Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina have failed Ashwin cleared his test at the NCA in Bangalore.
“Been a good trip to Bangalore, yo yo test done and dusted. Now #backtothegrind #RanjiTrophy2017 #teamtamilnadu,” Ashwin wrote on his twitter handle.
I will get my opportunity
Ashwin didn’t have a really good opening game against Andhra and is gearing up for the next against Tripura. Meanwhile, he is also waiting for his opportunity to play for the national side in the limited-overs format. Of late the Indian team management has decided to rest their premier Test spinners Ravi Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja from the shorter formats and trusted the two wrist spinners, Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav with the responsibility. Their success in Sri Lanka and now against Australia in the ODIs, has prompted the team to stick with the combination and that raises doubts if the spin-twin will now be categorised as Test bowlers.
“For me, it’s not a comeback, I am not desperate at all. One day, the opportunity will come on my door knocking because I haven’t done too much wrong. So, when I get the opportunity, I will probably try and raise my game to the best of my ability,” stated Ashwin talking about his comeback.
