Ravichandran Ashwin confirms whether he lost his kit bag on his IPL debut
Recently, Aaron Finch had to miss a game as his kit bag didn't arrive
Ravichandran Ashwin is slated to miss this edition of the IPL due to a sports hernia injury after bowling his heart out in the grand home season of Test matches for India. Despite his layoff from cricket, Ashwin did not shy away from grabbing headlines as he confirmed about whether or not he lost his kit bag on his IPL debut way back in 2009.
The matter came to light following the game between Gujarat Lions and Mumbai Indians. Melbourne Renegades captain Aaron Finch who represents the Rajkot-based side in the IPL missed out on yesterday’s fixture against the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede due to an anomalous reason.
Aaron Finch, who scored a fluent 19-ball 33 against the Rising Pune Supergiant side, missed out because his kit did not arrive with him en route to Wankhede from Rajkot, which left many personalities from the cricketing fraternity into splits.
Following the hilarious incident, an Ashwin fan took to social media to confirm whether he too lost his kit during his IPL debut in 2009. The tournament was held in South Africa as the government did not permit the event due to ongoing election date clashes which forbade the event to be hosted in India.
Chennai Super Kings led by Dhoni faced Sachin Tendulkar’s Mumbai Indians as Ashwin was set to play his first IPL match. The fan remembered the fact that Ashwin featured in the playing XI but did not bowl or bat. He enquired whether his kit bag was lost as well, keeping the Aaron Finch incident in the hindsight.
The fan tweeted,”Hey @ashwinravi99 .Kit bag not arriving happened in your debut IPL game right? you neither batted or bowled but played. can you confirm?”. he further asked “@ashwinravi99 what is the verdict? true or was it wrong. think it was albie morkel!!!”
However, Ashwin denied any possibility of him losing the kit. He humbly responded by saying that even though he had his kit, he didn’t have the opportunity to bat or bowl. The offie tweeted, “@gaurav_sundar Had the kit bag but dint bowl or bat!”
All we can say is it has been quite a journey for Ravichandran Ashwin from not getting an opportunity to bat or bowl to be the premier bowler in the Indian Test team with four Test centuries.
